Meet the Kollel

• Rabbi Eliyahu & Mrs. Naomi Davidowitz

Raised in Rochester, NY, Rabbi Davidowitz culminated his fourteen years of post high school Torah and Ethics study by receiving his Rabbinical Ordination from Rabbi Moshe Heinemann. His love for teaching began nine years ago teaching Sunday school in Rochester, and was nurtured in the past three years while on staff in the Tiferes Bnei Torah program in Queens, NY. Rabbi Davidowitz’s energy, erudition and ability to connect with people of all backgrounds make him uniquely qualified for his position as Rosh Kollel and Director of Outreach for the Las Vegas Kollel.

Raised in Kew Gardens, NY, Mrs. Naomi Davidowitz studied in Jerusalem’s Bnos Chava and Ma’alot Seminaries. She received her B.A. from Thomas Edison University and her M.A. in Special Education from Adelphi University, and is currently a certified teacher and supervisor in NY State. In addition to raising her four children, Tova, Moshe, Aliza and Ahuva, Naomi has applied her knowledge and experience to her position in the Yeshiva Day School of Las Vegas.





• Rabbi Yehoshua & Mrs. Frimie Fromowitz

Rabbi Yehoshua Fromowitz is a Rosh Kollel and Director of Operations at the newly founded Las Vegas Kollel. His vision, passion for Torah Study as well as his leadership talents make him the perfect candidate for his position. Rabbi Fromowitz spent the past thirteen years immersed in study at the Rabbinical Seminary of America in Queens, NY receiving his Rabbinical Ordination from RSA. During that time he had the opportunity to teach and mentor in a variety of settings. He has conducted introductory classes to unaffiliated public school students, as well as college level Talmud and Jewish Law. He participated in advanced seminars in Jewish Marital Law, and mentors grooms in preparation for marriage. Rabbi Fromowitz’s warmth and knowledge have earned him the respect of students and peers alike. Additionally, Rabbi Fromowitz is a Certified Mohel and has practiced in New York, Las Vegas and Israel. Mrs. Frimie Fromowitz serves as the Director of Women’s Programming for our Kollel. Frimie was born and raised in Kew Gardens Hills, NY. After a year of post high school study in Jerusalem, she entered college and received a Masters degree in Education and School Psychology. Frimie’s educational and outreach experience, together with her love for Jewish Learning are a tremendous asset to the Las Vegas Community.

In addition to participating in Project SEED in Long Island, NY and Austin, Texas, Rabbi and Mrs. Fromowitz directed SEED in Las Vegas for four summers. The Fromowitz family was received very warmly by the Las Vegas Community and so thoroughly enjoyed their experience that they decided to permanently join it! Rabbi and Mrs. Fromowitz have moved to Las Vegas this past summer along with their children, Shimmy, Mordechai and Malka.

• Rabbi Dovid Yonah & Mrs. Leah Kitainik

Born and raised in Kew Gardens Hills, NY, Rabbi Kitainik received his Rabbinical Ordination from The Rabbinical seminary of America in 2005. Rabbi Kitainik’s outreach experience includes directing a division of the Jewish Education Program as well as having participated in SEED programs in Atlanta, GA and Long Island, N.Y. Rabbi Kitainik spent the last three years as a Bible, Talmud and Jewish Law Instructor in Yeshiva Tiferes Yisroel in Brooklyn, NY. Rabbi Kitainik’s scholarship, dynamism and educational experience earned him the position of Educational Director for our Kollel.

Mrs. Leah Kitainik was born in Rochester, N.Y. and moved to Queens as a child. After studying in Israel for a year, she attended Brooklyn College and Downstate Medical Center, receiving her B.S. in Occupational Therapy. She has been practicing occupational therapy in the New York Metropolitan area for the past nine years, where her expertise and warmth have made her sought after as a therapist and lecturer.

Rabbi and Mrs. Kitainik have moved to Las Vegas with their children Aryeh Zev, Moshe, Akiva, Sarah, Yehoshuah and Aharon.


• Rabbi Dani & Mrs. Devorah Locker

Although Rabbi Locker grew up in Brooklyn, NY, his studies took him to Israel, Florida, and then Queens, NY amassing ten years of post high school Torah study. Rabbi Locker has more than a decade of experience in youth teaching and programming, having served as the outreach coordinator for the Jewish Education Program of Long Island, and acting as the Head Counselor in Camp Nageela. He has also taught on the adult and collegiate levels in RSA’s Community Learning Program and an Aish HaTorah summer Kollel. His hobbies include graphic art, and playing saxophone.

Mrs. Devorah Locker, a native of Harrisburg, PA, employs a unique blend of expertise and energy with both adults and children. After graduating Yeshiva of Greater Washington and completing Bnos Chava Teachers Seminary and Maalot of Baltimore, she went on to earn her MS in Curriculum and Instruction at McDaniel College and pursued a second education degree at UNLV. She has already imbued her students in Baltimore and New York with enthusiasm and love for Torah that she now brings back to Las Vegas. Devorah also makes really, really good challah, a trait she inherited from her mother, the Challah Baker of Harrisburg.

In the summer of 2006 the Lockers relocated to Las Vegas where they pioneered the Yeshiva Day School. In the summer of 2007 they re-relocated to Queens, NY to continue in the RSA Kollel. They have now re- re- relocating to Las Vegas with their two children Tova and Zehava, where Rabbi Locker will serve as a member of the Kollel and Director of Youth Programming (and reprogramming, and re- reprogramming, etc.
